ok
No fire damage here. Sorry to worry any of you who happened to wonder.
We did have lots of smoke in the air and some nasty Santa Ana winds & sandstorms. Whole hillsides shifted a few hundred feet, some even onto our schools. An elementary school on the East end of town even had a herd of cattle wandering around the building because a sand dune covered the neighboring fence. According to my custodian, the dirt inside that building was 1 foot deep all the way through. The district shut down for a week, and I spent it doing as little as possible.
J got sick. I got sick again. Some day I'll get my immunity back, we'll be able to go outside without having asthma-like symptoms, and I might enjoy fall again.

Good to hear *S*. Mild Santa Anas can be so pleasant but when they kick hard, they are brutal.
I was wondering how close you were to the fires, but I figured "no news is good news"...
Hope you and L feel better!
