new shoes

L got her first pair of shoes today. She hates them. In socked feet, the little one will practically dance across the floor; with shoes, she rolls around as if in pain and tugs at her toes. They throw off her balance. I can't wait to see her in roller skates some day.

At seven and nine, the fruit of my loins still loathe footwear. If I'd let them, they'd probably go to school in February barefoot, and be happy. This summer, I managed to broker a truce by introducing them to athletic sandals, and Zoe has discovered the joys of flip flops, but it's a rare day when the socks are still on more than one minute after they get in the house.

And no, I don't require them to wear socks with their sandals. That's strictly for sneakers. Dress shoes? Ya gotta be kidding me.

At least I've got them trained to put the socks in the hamper.

Litter your floor with thumb tacks. Soon they will be begging you for shoes.

I'm 27 and I go barefoot when I can. Shoes are just natural!

Ah, flip flops and tacks. Now why don't they put this kind of important information in baby books?

LOL I am always amused by cute kid stories....I love the little mites...they are full of fun and surprises...they help us see the world through their eyes and it is a far more wonderous place that way.
