black humor
I've never noticed how dark the humor in The Simpsons is.

Homer is really nothing like my father. But sometimes, he reminds me of him so much its disturbing. Interestingly I have not found many people who don't feel the same about their dad.
I had never seen the Simpsons until I met my husband. He's a junkie. He and his friends even have a Simpsons ritual, though I can't really post it here. I love it now. We have several seasons on DVD. I think it's a good social commentary. A college student wrote his political science thesis on the Simpsons. Allegory is a wonderful thing!
