workaholic

It's a bad habit. I'm trying to break it. Teachers seem to be infamous for either doing far too much or far too little. There's got to be a middle ground out there somewhere....

But if you can't find that elusive middle ground I'm recommending lazy.

Are you addicted to your job, Jessica?

A very narrow definition of addiction is 'contintued repeated use of a substance despite the harm it causes."

Are you causing yourself or someone else harm because of the amount of work that you do? Do you have to work more and more to become satisfied? If so, than maybe you are.

On the other hand, if you work someplace that requires almost an idiotic amount of quantification to do your job, and if your job is one where, should you do it right, others may benefit immeasurably by the amount of preparation you put into it, AND you still enjoy doing it, than no, you are probably not addicted.

Hows THAT for a run-on sentance?

Congrats on the first steps of your daughter. Let the chasing begin!

When working for others, I put off until tomorrow whatever I can when it starts to infringe on my personal time.

jessica, for teachers? I do not know that a middle ground exists. It seems like the good ones really work hard at it and the not as good ones do not.

two of my in laws are elementary teachers. Both have been back in their class rooms for at least 2 weeks even though they are not required to be their until next week.

Take pride in your dedication. What you do is important

I'm a teacher. I'm a workaholic. It drives my husband crazy, but I think he's adjusting. Now he'll even help grade papers. I don't have a middle ground. I'm either on vacatiojn or working my butt off.
