fish or cut bait
I've given more thought lately to a hypothetical change of career. Worst case scenario: I'm fired in January and look for a job as a technical writer, editor, or computer programmer. It might be nice to have a job that I can do effectively in 60 hours/wk or less.

Why would you be fired? I can't imagine not teaching, but I think if I had to, I would go into copywriting.
Software test. No one wants to do it so its full of rejects and freaks which make it fun. It also makes it reasonably easy to look good at it even if your not.
