the tax on terror

This story about Terror-Free Oil is more embarrassing to me than anything else.

a) Just because money goes to the Middle East, it doesn't necessarily fund al Qaeda.
b) In a global economy, our dollars aren't diverted from or to any single country.
c) They buy their gas from Sinclair, who buys some of their oil from world trade markets.
d) I'd rather buy anti-commy cookies than terror-free oil. Who says Macarthyism is dead?

I stand corrected. Not Shell, but Sinclair oil. They buy most oil directly from the U.S. and Canada, but a portion comes from the New York Mercantile Exchange and possibly the evil Middle East. Said Joe Kaufman, spokesman for Terror-Free Oil, "[it's] hard to confirm exactly where it comes from. To tell you the truth most companies cannot guarantee that." (Third-party source here.)

Unless of course you are Joe Kaufman. Then I'm impressed (and a little surprised) by your vigilence in refuting misinformation. I hope you get paid well. Seriously, PR isn't easy.

Jessica,

You are completely missing the point, which is to SUPPORT companies that DO NOT IMPORT Middle Eastern oil. If none of the US oil companies imported ME oil, we wouldn't have to worry about what is sold on NY exchange.
